Grain Refiner for Aluminum Alloys: Al-Ti-B Compound
Product Overview
Our titanium boron refiner series is an advanced solution inspired by the best practices from the United Kingdom and the United States. This new generation of products leverages extensive field practice and mature use experience to optimize the aluminum refining process. Composed of highly active metal powders and specialized flux, these refiners ensure an effective refining process by promoting essential compound formations like TiA13 and TiB2.
Key Advantages
- High Density and Reactivity: Easily self-sinks and floats under gravity and molten salt gasification, ensuring a rapid reaction without burning or oxidation, thus preserving effective components.
- Versatile Block Weights: Offers a range of block weights to facilitate accurate quantification and meet diverse requirements.
- Customizable Ratios: Provides varied titanium-boron ratios to align with different market needs for refinement effect and content.
Usage Instructions
After allowing the aluminum melt to reach the desired temperature and removing surface slag, introduce the titanium-boron refiner. A small yellow flame indicates the commencement of the reaction. Once reacted, stir the mixture thoroughly and proceed with casting after refinement and slag removal.
Dosage Recommendations
- TBG404: General-purpose refiner, 0.010-0.015% Ti by weight for pure aluminum refinement.
- TBG303C: High-efficiency refiner, dosage adjusted for aluminum melts with Ti0.007-0.012%.
- TBG601: Primarily used to adjust alloy titanium content, dosage based on specific alloy requirements.

Important Precautions
- The refiner can be added to either the holding or melting furnace, preferably before the final refining step.
- The effect of the refiner is optimal for 5 hours; additional refiner is necessary post this period.
- No negative impact on chemical treatments or oxidation coloring of aluminum products.
Each titanium boron refiner is securely packed in corrugated boxes of 20-25 kg, with self-sealing dense bags inside. Consider this an essential vitamin for aluminum melts, enhancing grain refinement, reducing defects, optimizing ingot structure, and improving processing outcomes.
