Innovative Refining Method for Aluminum Melting

The integration of inert gas, gas-borne flux, and filtration in aluminum melting processes has revolutionized refining techniques. This advanced method not only enhances degassing and slag removal but also offers flexible adjustment and simple operation. It embraces the essence of traditional refining methods, making it an ideal solution for current melting and casting production scenarios.

Traditional Nitrogen Refining vs. Modern Practices

Nitrogen refining, a time-tested gas refining method, is both economical and environmentally friendly. It effectively removes flotation slag and aids in partial pressure degassing. However, the presence of oxygen and moisture in industrial-grade nitrogen can limit hydrogen penetration, reducing efficiency.

In contrast, using a powdered refining agent with active adsorbents like cryolite and gasifiers such as sodium fluorosilicate enhances the degassing effect. The flux is atomized into the molten pool under nitrogen pressure, forming a liquid film around oxygen bubbles, significantly improving the refining process.

    Effortless Application

    • Load the flux into the injection device's storage tank and ensure it's covered.
    • Activate the refining tank by admitting nitrogen (pressure between 1.2-1.8 Kg/cm²).
    • Slowly and uniformly insert the iron pipe into the molten pool as the refining agent is sprayed out.
    • Dispersed nitrogen bubbles combined with flux remove oxide inclusions and hydrogen.
    • The refining process takes approximately 10-15 minutes.
    • Upon completion, retract the refining tube and cut off the nitrogen supply.

    Precautions

Containing potassium fluoroaluminate, this product should not be unpacked or baked before use. In case of agglomeration, crush and sieve with a 20-mesh before use. Specialized versions are available for sodium, chlorine, and calcium—commonly used in the foundry aluminum industry.
